What a Complete Furnace Installation Includes
A complete installation starts with the property, not the furnace model. We assess the heating load, which is the amount of heat the building needs under expected conditions. We also review the ductwork and planned furnace location, including available fuel or electrical service, venting, and thermostat controls.
Typical installation stages include:
- Existing system review: Reviewing the furnace, ducts, controls, connections, venting, and conditions that affect replacement.
- Equipment selection: Matching furnace capacity and configuration to the building’s heating demand and connected systems.
- Removal and placement: Removing the old equipment and positioning the new furnace in the planned installation area.
- System connections: Completing the required duct, fuel or electrical, venting, and thermostat connections.
- Startup and testing: Checking airflow, thermostat operation, startup performance, unusual sounds, and visible installation concerns.
When to Consider Furnace Replacement
Replacement may make sense when repairs become frequent, performance declines, rooms remain unevenly heated, or critical components are obsolete. Serious heat-exchanger or combustion concerns also require a professional assessment before the furnace continues operating.
A replacement evaluation should consider:
- The furnace’s condition, age, and repair history.
- Current performance and recurring service needs.
- Compatibility with existing ductwork and thermostat controls.
- Venting, electrical, and combustion requirements.
- The property’s current heating demand and usage.
