Radiant Floor Heating in Bergen County

Engineering-Led Radiant Floor Heating for Cold Floors & Uneven Rooms

A radiant system delivers warmth from beneath the floor surface. It can address cold tile or stone, uneven room temperatures, visible baseboards, and rooms where wall space is limited.

The right design depends on the floor assembly, installation access, heat source, room heat loss, and construction scope. We evaluate these factors for residential and commercial properties throughout Bergen County before recommending a system.

Engineering-Led System Design Since 1934

Reiner Group has provided continuous service since 1934. Our team of more than 150 people includes engineers, plumbers, electricians, mechanics, and HVAC technicians who collaborate on design-build projects.

Our approach includes heat-loss calculations to determine how much warmth each room requires, along with shop drawings, loop layouts, zoning, boiler integration, and final plumbing connections. This coordination is especially important for hydronic radiant heating, which circulates heated water through tubing beneath or within the floor assembly.

Is Radiant Heating a Practical Fit?

Radiant heating can work in many buildings, but it isn’t right for every floor or project. We evaluate the structure, heating equipment, and proposed use instead of applying the same layout to every property.

Important project factors include:

  • Construction access: New construction and major renovations generally offer more flexibility than retrofits with finished floors already in place.
  • Floor materials: Tile, stone, concrete, engineered wood, and some laminate products may be compatible when the floor assembly and operating temperatures are designed accordingly.
  • Heating equipment: A hydronic system requires coordination with a boiler or another compatible heat source.
  • Room controls: Separate zones can provide different temperature settings across rooms or areas when the design supports them.
  • Project scale: A bathroom, addition, commercial space, or whole-building system each calls for a different evaluation.

How We Design & Install a Radiant System

A successful installation starts before tubing is placed. We account for the building’s heat loss, floor construction, available installation space, and connection to the existing heating equipment.

Property & Heat-Loss Evaluation

We review room dimensions, floor coverings, insulation, construction access, and current equipment. Room-by-room heat-loss calculations guide system capacity and show where separate zones may be appropriate.

Floor Layout & Controls

We develop shop drawings and plan the tubing layout, loop spacing, thermostats, and underfloor heating controls. When the hydronic design calls for them, manifolds distribute water among individual loops while mixing valves regulate water temperature.

Boiler Integration & Testing

Boiler integration coordinates the heat source with the floor distribution system and its operating temperatures. We complete plumbing connections, pressure testing, control checks, and compatibility reviews before the floor assembly is closed.

Residential & Commercial Radiant Heating Applications

We serve homeowners and businesses throughout Northern New Jersey. Potential applications range from a single room to a broader heating plan for an entire residential or commercial property.

Projects may involve:

  • Bathrooms, kitchens, additions, remodeled rooms, and whole-home heating designs
  • Offices, retail spaces, multifamily properties, and other commercial buildings
  • New construction with radiant components incorporated into the slab or floor assembly
  • Retrofits planned around floor removal, finished-space protection, and construction sequencing
